EPH Conference 2022 and the COVID-19 pandemic

Conference management during the COVID-19 pandemic

Update 24 August 2022

The State of Berlin has adopted basic protective measures against the coronavirus.

Events are permitted with an unlimited number of people present. Neither mask nor test obligations apply.

Persons aged 14 and over have to wear a FFP2 mask without a ventilation valve or an equivalent in local public transport.

Quarantine, testing and reporting obligations apply to persons who have been in a virus variant area within the last 10 days prior to their arrival in the state of Berlin. For all other people entering the country, corona-related requirements no longer apply. Virus variant areas are areas where certain SARS-CoV-2 mutations are prevalent that are not yet or no longer common in Germany. The list of current virus variant areas is published by the Robert Koch Institute. View the current list of risk areas. People returning to/entering the country from virus variant areas are required to register their entry in advance. This notification must be made using the electronic registration and information system at www.einreiseanmeldung.de. The information will be forwarded to the health authority responsible. After successful digital registration, passengers will receive a confirmation which must be presented to the airline/other transporter or the relevant authority upon request.

Update 1 April 2022

The State of Berlin is happy to welcome you. From April 1, 2022, there will be no longer any restrictive measures for the event industry. Meetings, conferences, events and trade fairs will no longer be subject to upper limits and access conditions. Event organizers are free to decide whether and how to make use of protective measures.

For the EPH Conference 2022 we will follow the recommendations for responsible events to ensure our delegates can attend the conference safely.

Update 22 February 2022

With the steady return to 'normal' life across Europe, we are increasingly confident that we can actually host an in person conference in Berlin in November. While the Omicron variant has led to a surge in infections across the continent, hospitalisations have not surged in line with cases, suggesting the worst of the virus might be over. As a result, many countries in Europe are ending their COVID-19 restrictions and Germany is likely to follow later this month. We will keep our fingers crossed this spring, summer and especially autumn that the situation improves further and we can return to a normal conference.

We will review government guidelines relating to COVID-19 measures in the run-up to the event. We will make all delegates aware prior to coming of any measures that are in place. This could include social distancing, testing, or showing your vaccination status before entering the venue.

Current measures in Berlin can be followed in detail on the websites of VisitBerlin and the State of Berlin.

Update 6 January 2022

The Berlin 2022 conference will be the first EPH Conference to take place live and in person since Marseille 2019. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and related measures, we have been forced to hold virtual conferences for the past two years. We sincerely hope that this year we will finally be able to get together again with everyone in the spectacular conference location hub27 Berlin.

You can be assured that we will strictly comply with all relevant health and safety measures.

The hub27 Berlin, which is part of the Messe Berlin, has developed a comprehensive safety and hygiene concept. Every event is assessed individually according to this safety and hygiene concept and measures are coordinated correspondingly. Due to the unpredictability of developments regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, these measures are subject to constant review and amended as required.
