Chair of the 19th European Public Health Conference
Manuel Franco, Social and Urban Epidemiologist, is a Basque Climate Change Research Centre Ikerbasque Research Professor. He is adjunct faculty in two US institutions: Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the City University of New York CUNY Graduate School of Public Health. He trained in Medicine both in Madrid and Berlin. As a Fulbright Scholar he joined the Johns Hopkins Department of Epidemiology to obtain his PhD in the topics of social epidemiology and urban health. Back in Madrid he received the Marie Curie and Ramón y Cajal early-stage research fellowships. He was the Principal Investigator of the European Research Council Starting Grant Heart Healthy Hoods studying urban characteristics in relation to cardiovascular disease. He published 140 international peer reviewed articles and participated in 15 research studies. He is interested in the dissemination of public health research collaborating with different newspapers, televisions and radio programs.
International Scientific Committee
The International Scientific Committee (ISC) is responsible for:
- safeguarding the scientific quality of the content of the EPH Conference,
- scoring the abstracts submitted for presentation at the EPH Conference,
- providing advice to the organisers in all matters concerning research and science,
- contributing to the scientific evaluation of the conference.
The EPH Conference Executive Board appoints the chair of the ISC for the year of the conference, upon advice from the Local Support Committee. The ISC has its annual meeting in November during the conference.
Chair of the International Scientific Committee (ISC)
Eduardo Satue de Velasco. Community pharmacist in Zaragoza (SPAIN). He has served as Public Health Pharmacist of the regional government of Aragon and collaborates with the Office of the Public Health of Minister of Health. He was President of the Spanish Society of Public Health and Health Administration (SESPAS) and vicepresident of the Spanish Society Community Pharmacist. He is currently Past President of the Spanish Society of Public Health and Health Administration and member of Data Group of International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) .
Chair of the International Scientific Committee (ISC)
Rosa Urbanos. Professor of Applied Economics at the Complutense University of Madrid. She has served as Director of the Observatory of the National Health System and as an advisor in the Office of the Minister of Health. She was a member of the Planning and Coordination Team for the Evaluation of the Performance of the National Health System in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Secretary of the Health Economics Association, and President of the Spanish Society of Public Health and Health Administration (SESPAS). She is currently a member of the Health Advisory Council, and a member of the national experts network of the World Health Organization’s Universal Health Coverage project.
