Conference highlights and insights
The 17th European Public Health Conference took place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 12–15 November 2024, under the theme Sailing the waves of European public health: exploring a sea of innovation. The conference welcomed a record 3,023 delegates from 83 countries, including pre-conference participants, making Lisbon 2024 the largest EPH Conference to date. Over four days, participants engaged with the latest developments in public health research, policy, education, and practice in a fully in-person setting that encouraged exchange, debate, and collaboration.
The programme featured 7 plenary sessions, 24 pre-conferences, 125 workshops, 51 oral sessions, 22 poster walks, and 34 PechaKucha sessions—a dynamic storytelling format introduced for the first time in Lisbon. Sessions were organised across 16 thematic tracks, reflecting key public health priorities and enabling delegates to follow topics of interest throughout the conference. With the support of partners, speakers, and exhibitors, the conference offered a rich and diverse programme showcasing innovation, evidence, and practical solutions from across Europe and beyond.
Where Health Can Thrive
