Chair of the 11th European Public Health Conference
Dr. Ivan Eržen is Chair of the 11th EPH Conference in Ljubljana. During his long career, Ivan Eržen, MD, PhD, was performing a variety of tasks within public health in Slovenia, both at the regional and national level. In addition to his professional and research work, where he focused primarily on the study of health, in conjunction with health determinants, he devoted a lot of time to the students while teaching public health at different levels of education. Through education and his publications he hopes to transfer knowledge and experience in the field of public health to the young generation and to his fellow colleagues as well. He is full professor of public health at the University of Ljubljana and is holding lectures in public health at different universities in Slovenia. In September 2013, he became the first director of the new established National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) in Slovenia. After concluding his four years mandate, he continues work at the NIJZ as a deputy director.
Local Support Committee
EPH Conference Foundation works together with a local partner in the host country. This is usually the national public health association but can also be the national institute for public health or a university. The local partner establishes a Local Support Committee (LSC) which consists of national stakeholders and leading experts in public health. The LSC has the task to gather support for the conference, to market and advertise the conference in the host country and to encourage national and regional participation and involvement.
