Ricardo Baptista Leite
Member of the Portuguese Parliament (Health and the Foreign Affairs Committees), National Spokesperson for Health of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and Head of Public Health at Católica University of Portugal. Founding President of ‘UNITE – Global Parliamentarians Network to End HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis and other infectious diseases’. Vice President of the ‘Parliamentary Network on The World Bank & International Monetary Fund’. One of six people globally nominated by ‘The Economist Intelligence Unit’ (2016) as a ‘HCV Change Maker’ in recognition of leadership in the field of hepatitis c. Guest Lecturer at NOVA Information Management School and NOVA Medical School. Former Deputy Mayor and City Councilor of Cascais responsible for health, economic diplomacy and international relations. Prior to being elected MP, Dr. Baptista Leite worked as a practicing physician, including a 5-year Infectious Diseases residency program at the Western Lisbon Hospital Centre and an internship at the World Health Organization (Copenhagen). PhD candidate at Maastricht University, having completed post-graduate studies in multiple universities including Johns Hopkins University, Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Medical School. Founder of ‘CREATING HEALTH – Research and Innovation Funding’ and Co-founder of the ‘Estoril Conferences’. Main author of the book ‘Citizenship for Health’, among other publications.
