Chair of the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) Environment and Rural Affairs committee

Paul O’Brien was elected Chair of the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) Environment and Rural Affairs committee in 2020. He is from Graiguenamanagh, Kilkenny, Ireland, where he runs a sheep and tillage enterprise. Paul has been involved in the Irish Farmers’ Association over the past 20 years holding various positions. For many years he served as secretary and vice chair of Kilkenny IFA. His current positions include vice-chair Copa-Cogeca Working Party on Environment. Copa-Cogeca is the united voice of farmers and agricultural cooperatives in the European Union. In addition, he is a member of the National Pesticides and Drinking Water Action Group (NPDWAG),  farmer Representative on the Fertiliser Association of Ireland (FAI) council and member of the Agricultural Sustainability Support and Advisory Programme (ASSAP) committee in Ireland.
