Monika Kosinska

Head of the Global Programme on Social Determinants of Health Equity for the World Health Organization (WHO)
Monika Kosinska leads the global programme on Social Determinants of Health Equity for the World Health Organization (WHO). Previously she led the global programme on Economic and Commercial Determinants (2021-2025) and WHO European Healthy Cities Network (2014-2021). Before joining the WHO she held senior positions in Brussels-based civil society, including as Secretary General of the European Public Health Alliance (2008-2014). She started her career in local government, working for the metropolitan municipality of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. Monika is an Honorary Member of the Faculty of Public Health, and Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health. She has an MA in International Peace and Security from King’s College London, and a BA in European Studies (Law, Politics and Economics) from the University of Liverpool. She is a PhD candidate in Public Health Ethics at the University of Maastricht, the Netherlands.
