Mika Salminen

Director General, Finnish Institute for health and Welfare (THL), Finland

Dr. Salminen is a public health expert with a PhD and professorial title. He has a long-standing career in infectious disease control and public health policy. He currently serves as Director General of Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). He has worked at THL and the preceding Public Health Institute in various managerial and director positions since 1996. He worked as Director of the THL Department of Public Health and Welfare and as Director of the Health Security Department for about ten years and was responsible for THL's COVID-19 measures. He is a member of several European scientific advisory forums, including DG HERA and the ECDC Advisory Forum.
