Martin McKee is Professor of European Public Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Research Director at the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies. He is also a Past President of the European Public Health Association and British Medical Association and President of the European Public Health Conference Foundation. Author of over 1500 papers in peer-reviewed journals, with a particular focus on health in societies undergoing major political, economic, and social transitions, he is among the to 1% by citations of researchers across all disciplines worldwide. His work has been recognised by, among others, election to the UK Academy of Medical Sciences, Academia Europaea, and the US National Academy of Medicine, as well as ASPHER’s Andrija Stampar medal, and seven honorary doctorates.
