Jet Bussemaker

Jet Bussemaker is chair of the Council for Public Health & Society (RVS) since June 2019. Since 2018, she has been working as professor of ‘Science, policy and social impact, in particular in health care’ at the Leiden University Medical Center, Leiden University, Netherlands. Between 2012 and 2017 she was Minister of Education, Culture and Science and Dean of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences from 2011 until 2012. She was Secretary of State for the ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports from 2007 until 2010. Previous positions included: Member of Parliament for the Labour Party (PvdA) and assistant professor at the VU University, Amsterdam, Netherlands. She graduated cum laude in political science and obtained his doctorate at the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands, for the dissertation 'Contested Independent. Individualization, gender and the welfare state' (awarded the 1994 Political Science Prize).
