Dorit Nitzan

Dorit Nitzan joined the Division of Communicable Diseases and Health Emergencies as Coordinator, Health Emergencies & Programme Area Manager, Emergency Operations, working at WHO Regional Office for Europe in August 2016. In this capacity she leads the Emergency Operations within the WHO Health Emergencies Programme and she coordinates the work of the new WHO Emergency Programme: from prevention to preparedness, to response and recovery.

She joined the World Health Organization in 2005 as manager of Public Health Services in the South-eastern Europe Health Network and later as Head of Offices and WHO Representative in Serbia and Ukraine, until 2016. Prior to this, she was in charge of the Food and Nutrition Administration in the Israeli Ministry of Health and was active in the humanitarian NGO ‘Physicians for Human Rights’. Dorit Nitzan is a physician by education and has graduated with MPH in epidemiology and biostatistics.
