Christina Berndt

Christina Berndt is a prize-winning journalist with Germany's leading national daily Süddeutsche Zeitung and a bestselling author of popular science books. She reports on medicine, psychology and life sciences for nearly 20 years. Before her journalistic career Christina Berndt studied biochemistry in Hannover and Witten/Herdecke. At the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg she did the research for her PhD thesis, which was honoured with the thesis prize of the German Immunological Society. Christina Berndt also has been awarded several prizes for her journalistic work: In 2006 she got the European Science Writers Junior Award, in 2013 she won the renowned Wächter Prize for her investigative work on the German transplantation scandal and became Science Journalist of the Year in Germany.
