Ran D. Balicer

Chief Innovation Officer, Clalit Health Services, Israel

Ran Balicer serves as Chief Innovation Officer for Clalit - Israel's largest healthcare organization that covers over half Israel’s population. He is a Founding Director of the Clalit Research Institute, and in this capacity as Head of the WHO Collaborating Center on Non-Communicable Diseases Research, Prevention and Control. In these roles, he is responsible for development and large-scale implementation of novel AI and data-driven interventions, aimed at and shown to effect improving healthcare quality, reducing disparities and increasing care effectiveness.
He is Full Professor of the MPH program at the Ben-Gurion University School of Public Health, Israel. He is also the Head of the Public Health Medical Residents Training Program of Clalit Health Services. In these capacities he has served as mentor for Medical Doctors and advanced studies students over the years. He has authored over 200 scientific publications, books and book chapters. Since 2020, he serves as Chairman of Israel's National Experts Team on COVID-19 Response, which advises the Israeli Government and Prime Minister Office. He has led international scientific research on COVID-19 risk stratification, vaccine effectiveness and vaccine safety.
