Pre-conference: Safety challenges and altered injury patterns in Europe during COVID-19 and beyond

The COVID-19 pandemic has enormously affected our personal and professional lives and greatly changed the mechanism, the nature and the severity of injuries. Despite the progress made during the pre-COVID period, injury is still a leading cause of death, worldwide.
The aim of the workshop is to discuss intentional and unintentional injury risks and safety promotion issues during the global COVID-19 pandemic. It starts with the discussion of perceived risk and risk communication and their relationship with the adoption of proper preventive behaviours in the times of pandemic. Safety at home and during leisure time, violence and suicide prevention, occupational safety, injuries in vulnerable target groups (children and elderly) remain in the focus of this workshop, as well as prevention and safety strategies.
The pre-conference workshop is a regular workshop. Time for discussion is offered after every presentation, and a final discussion is proposed after all the presentations.
