(ending with network lunch at 12:30)
Organised by
EUPHA Public mental health section
Background
Understanding what drives human flourishing and mental health is crucial for Public Mental health, social policy and mental health and wellbeing interventions. Research has demonstrated that mental health and mental health conditions vary across populations. Yet, the variation is not fully understood. Novel models in mental health are needed, as many mental health conditions share underlying processes and mechanisms, like emotion dysregulation and cognitive biases. In this preconference, we aim to provide an overview of novel models of mental health, novel models of mental health conditions, and approaches to analysis. Furthermore, we will explore the potential for mental health promotion by targeting these shared processes. Lastly, we will jointly explore opportunities for improving mental health care. The pre-conference is organized in three parts: first we will have lectures on novel methods of mental health (Prof. Jutta Lindert) and novel approaches for analyses to identify typologies of mental health (Prof. Sally McManus), second potential for mental health promotion for the general population and vulnerable population will be explored by presenting best practice examples of psychosocial care and responses to emergencies from Europa (Mika Rautanen, Matej Vinko) and lastly we will explore opportunities in the pre-conference for improving psychosocial and mental health care by building relationships at different levels.
