Background
This interactive workshop, titled 'Empowering Change: Advocacy Strategy and Tools for Early Career Professionals', is aimed at strengthening public health advocacy among young professionals.
The contributions of young professionals and early career experts are crucial to identifying innovative solutions for pressing global public health challenges. However, they are often overlooked in public policy and decision-making processes. It is imperative to enhance their skills and equip them with the necessary tools to actively participate and effectively contribute to decision-making processes aimed at advancing health and well-being for all. Additionally, the rapid advancement of digital technologies is significantly reshaping our world, heralding substantial potential benefits for individual and population health. These technologies offer new opportunities to promote and enhance health and well-being. Recognizing the critical role of digital advocacy in today's landscape, this session focuses on equipping participants with the necessary skills to develop and implement effective advocacy strategies, particularly in engaging younger audiences through digital platforms.
The workshop will be led by experienced young professionals specializing in advocacy and digital outreach, providing a peer-driven environment for learning and collaboration. Participants will gain hands-on experience in conceptualizing and executing strategic plans for digital advocacy, with a particular emphasis on leveraging social media and other digital tools to raise awareness, influence public health policies, and mobilize youth involvement in public health initiatives.
Objectives
The primary objective of this pre-conference is to empower early-career public health professionals with the practical skills and strategies needed to create and implement effective digital advocacy campaigns. By the end of the session, participants will have developed a clear understanding of how to engage young people in public health issues through digital advocacy, and they will leave with actionable strategies that can be applied immediately in their professional contexts.
