Background
The aim of the workshop is to discuss in interactive way the possibilities and problems in publishing a scientific paper in a peer reviewed journal. Writing a scientific paper requires knowledge of the subject, but also knowledge of the editorial process which follows very strict formal rules that need to be observed

Objectives
The aim of the workshop is to discuss in interactive way the possibilities and problems in publishing a scientific paper in a peer reviewed journal.

Main messages
Writing a scientific paper requires knowledge of the subject, but also knowledge of the editorial process which follows very strict formal rules that need to be observed.

The workshop will be divided in three parts:

1. A series of short presentations about editorial process of a journal and main problems in the editorial process. The presentations will be:

  • Igor Švab: Presentation of the journal and its editorial process (20 minutes)
  • Saša Zupanič: Technical aspects of manuscript submission (20 minutes)
  • Lijana Zaletel Kragelj: Most common errors in writing a scientific paper (30 minutes)
  • Judy Mielke: Open science (20 minutes)

2. An interactive part where participants will individually be able to discuss their own experiences and exchange ideas with editors of Slovenian Journal of Public Health who will provide guidance and advice. Participants will be invited to share their ideas about articles and discuss potential drafts of papers they are considering for publication. Panelists will include: Saša Zupanič, Judy Mielke, Alenka Kraigher, Lijana Zaletel Kragelj, Mitja Kos, Darja Barlič Maganja, Eva Stergar (75 minutes).

3. Closure of the workshop with summary and plenary discussion (15 minutes).

Registration fee
The registration fee is € 70 which includes networking lunch and refreshments.
