Addressing health inequities across Europe: from evidence to policy

This Expert Policy Forum will be instrumental facilitating interaction between stakeholders and policy makers and will provide the appropriate atmosphere for necessary open dialogue. The main goal of the pre-conference is to advance knowledge on policies and enhance interaction of policy makers and stakeholders to discuss policies with highest potential to enhance health and health equity across European regions with particular focus on metropolitan areas.
The sessions will start with an introduction and stimulating talk followed by a presentation of the population health index tool and its implication in foreseeing the impact of multilevel policies, benefits and challenges will be discussed with policy makers, stakeholders and scientist. The area of inequality and mortality will highlight examples of policies tackling socioeconomic inequality looking at policy challenges and evidence for policy making. The selected areas of concern physical environment and health will be an example area for discussing with policy makers selected policies and their implications as well as the evidence-to-policy process. Urban health will have a separate session to highlight the specific need for tools and policies tackling health challenges at the urban scale.
Each session will be set up with 4-5 policy makers, advocates or NGOs to present a policy implementation and related challenges. Sessions will be followed by a moderated question and answer dialogue. The preconference leaflet can be found here.
